You ever heard those crazy sayings "You are what you eat " and " You are the company you keep"? Well those two things couldn't be more true. You have to make sure you are around people who actually represent who you are as a person. If you are a follower of Christ it is easy to be consumed by things of this world. We need people around who will check us and hold us accountable for what we are doing. It's important to be around people with good spirits. It's very easy to be around someone who isn't spirit led or spirit filled and then you get caught up doing the same thing their doing. For example, you stopped drinking/smoking/partying/gossiping/and etc. Then you get around your friend Jill and she does all these things and then you find yourself wanting to do the same things. Jill isn't going to stop you because this is the life she lives. Moral of the story is protect your SPIRIT. It's so important to have friends that won't give you advice you want to hear but gives you GODLY advice. Friends who literally speak life into you and pray for you. People don't understand when you have someone PRAY for you they are really looking out for your soul. That's so amazing that someone cares that much that they want to look out for your soul and cover you. It's vital that we have friends to help us be the people God called us to be. We need more spirit led friendships because it's easy to lose sight of why we are here and what we are called to be doing. Prayerful accountability partners are everything because they are the ones who will let you know when you're being rebellious. I'm thankful to have a spirit filled and spirit led circle of friends who will hold me accountable and allow me to be transparent without judgment. You need those people who will push you to be the best person you can be. So ask God to send some spirt filled and spirit led friends your way. Let this resonate with you " Be picky about who you keep around you. Personalities, words, traits do rub off naturally".
